ANTI-ROBOTIC? WHATEVER DO YOU MEAN?
We'll be playing a masterful piece of music by Kenneth Dahl Knudsen at Aarhus JAZZ Festival too! Yes. Magic times. Moreover, then we're heading to Aalborg and having another celebratory concert (check it out here)! We're playing there robots too!
But, let's begin where stories begin, at the beginning.
ANTI-ROBOTIC DANCE MUSIC is a new and fresh musical program by our one and only Kenneth Dahl Knudsen. It already has found home back in Mažeikiai (LT) and Vilnius (LT), where Kemaca and us, JJAZZers, got to perform it live, at two amazing concerts. It was tremendous fun and a magical musical exchange between Denmark and Lithuania. We filmed some good stuff about our mutual journey here, here and some more here. But, so... What is this anti robotic music?
Sit back, relax and let's deep dive into Kenneth's mind.
AI is COMING

Kenneth, who wrote this upliftingly emotional and intricately danceable piece shares his thoughts.
"AI is coming! The robots are taking all of our jobs! This will be the end of humanity as we know it!”
That may be true for a lot of professions. For the bus driver, the cashiers, the surgeons, and the mailman, the coming of AI and robots may prove to be a danger to their paychecks. The world is facing an uncertain future where automation and humanoid robots will make a lot of people jobless... BUT... There are things that can never be touched by computers. One of the oldest traits we have as humans: Art... expression... creativity... MUSIC!
I have wondered how music will sound in the future, and I’m afraid it goes in different directions. Yes, AI is already making tracks, and people and companies have started using them because it’s so easy and convenient.
However, I strongly believe that the world will be fed up with auto-generated music.

With music that has no story, that has no groove inside the grid, music that neglects the rich musical heritages we have from all over the planet.
Music is an art form that has existed since mankind sang its first phrase. It will forever be a part of how we act in this world, how we express ourselves, and how we communicate.
Iwant to create music that sounds HUMAN!
Music that incorporates elements that cannot be replicated by machines: phrasing, micro rhythms, communication, and instant dynamics. I want the band to be able to breathe together and MOVE together through advanced dance music that imagines the future of nightclubs all over the world.

When people are tired of robot music, how will a nightclub sound in 2040 in Tokyo? 2050 in Jakarta? 2064 in Rio de Janeiro?
Anti Robotic Dance Music" is a comment on the future that lies ahead, but also a celebration of true, real, hand-played music.
I read through Kenneth's thoughts a few times and I have to say I not only agree, but hope that this will be the case. That we will be able to enjoy live music for many years to come. A human being on stage making live sounds is special. There will be 17 human beings on stage. So it's REALLY SPECIAL.
PEOPLE LOVE IT
Not only special, but ROBOTS (I mean Kenneth's piece) is very much enjoyable. Not all music is meant to be enjoyed, some music has more of a performative aspect, some makes you want to see hell freeze, some makes you angry or sleepy. Robots make me happy all the time.

Musicians on stage are happy, audience is happy, behind the scenes people are happy. I mean... It's good enough reason to follow our journey.
So... See you in Denmark?
P.S. There's one more joyful thing... RAVENJAZZ will happen there too!!! Very soon one last message about what to expect ;)
